The Texas Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (TBFAA) is a non-profit state wide association of professional security and fire alarm companies that install, integrate and monitor intrusion and fire detection, video surveillance, electronic access control systems and other electronic and automation systems.

Training

TBFAA is the fastest, most economical pathway to licensing.

Members receive $100 discount per-certification class for every trainee and a $10 discount per CEU class for every trainee.

We offer:

  • Texas Alarm Level I to meet Texas DPS requirements

  • Texas Fire Exam Prep Course to prepare you for Texas Fire Marshal TFM11, 12, 13 & 14 Exams

  • Continuing education courses to earn CEU credit

Representation & Advocacy

TBFAAs Legislative Committee has successfully advocated at the state and local level to prevent what would have negatively impacted your ability to do business.

We monitor the state legislature and keep watch on regulations proposed by the Department of Public Safety, State Fire Marshal and Department of Labor & Regulation.

We keep up with local county & city ordinances and policy changes that impact you.

Partner with Public Safety

Members of TBFAA have established great relationships with local, state & national police and fire associations.

We coordinate with state and local associations for police chiefs and fire marshals.

We sponsor an annual scholarship for the children of police, sheriffs and fire fighters.

We contribute to the FARA Institute to pay travel expenses for public safety professionals to attend the Annual FARA International Training Symposium.

Strength Thru Alliances

  • The TBFAA Board of Directors works for you. Members of the association who represent all aspects of the electronic systems industry meet 6 times a year, at their own expense, to discuss legislative and local issues that affect alarm dealers across the State of Texas.

  • As a member of TBFAA, you automatically become a member of NESA (National Electronic Security Alliance) that monitors federal legislation and regulations while collaborating with other states to enhance and protect our members.

  • TBFAA works closely with local Texas associations  to keep up with what is happening all over the state and use the power of collective action to infulence local decisions for the better.

  • TBFAA partners with the False Alarm Reduction Association to educate local alarm managers and reduce the burden of local ordinances while maintaining their effectiveness.

We work closely with the False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA) to teach about he impact of false alarms and how to prevent them.
